I know I should be doing something more productive, but I am so excited for our first farmer's market AND for the sunflower microgreens that we grew. They are definitely a favorite and since I'm writing down recipe ideas for them, I thought I'd share them here too.
If you want some general information on what microgreens are, check out our About Microgreens page first and then come back here for the recipes!
First let's talk about this market. We drove by last weekend and it was super busy! The market has given us guidelines for precautions to take regarding COVID19. We will be wearing gloves and masks, as well as maintaining social distancing. I told Jason that I will handle the products and he can handle the money, so we won't be one of those people that are touching everything with their gloves! We are trying our best 😂 We will also have a jug of hand sanitizer..
Yes, I am dorky enough to set up my tables days ahead just to plan it out!! (See pictures)
Okay.. RECIPES. I read somewhere that the sunflower micros go really well with citrus so that's my main focus here. Oh and did you know that smoked salt was a thing? I had no idea, but it's now on my list to try! So for the first recipe, you will need a base lettuce for your salad (I like butter lettuce), a handful of sunflower microgreens and another handful of radish micros, smoked salt (or kosher salt), half of a lemon, and olive oil. Build your salad with the lettuce and micros. Sprinkle salt and drizzle olive oil over. Finish by squeezing lemon juice on top.
For the other recipe, all you will need is a sliced and peeled orange, your sunnies, and your favorite vinaigrette dressing. Lay the orange slices like a fan on the plate, add the micros, and drizzle your favorite vinaigrette dressing on top.
